About this site
SecurityNAK is an independent platform launched in January 2026 by Umbrax, devoted to the analysis of security and intelligence issues. We examine critical threats and challenges through the dual perspectives of Morocco and the United States, consistently advocating for the shared interests of these two strategic allies. What threatens one nation can rapidly affect the other; our security is indivisible.
The United States has a well-established landscape of outlets covering intelligence and national security. Morocco, by contrast, has far fewer dedicated spaces for rigorous, open discussion of these matters. To help address that gap, SecurityNAK places greater emphasis on Moroccan security concerns while integrating relevant American insights, lessons, and comparative analysis where they intersect.
Our mission is clear and focused:
- Deliver informed, practical advice
- Deepen mutual understanding of evolving threats
- Disseminate critical, actionable information
- Provide an open forum for thoughtful ideas and debate on security in both countries
Certain topics covered here involve sensitive or potentially hazardous information. Much of this material, however, is already accessible to adversarial actors—trained or untrained—through open-source research, public observation, or simple street-level awareness. Our purpose is not to create new risks, but to expose existing ones: we aim to draw the attention of Moroccan security services (notably the DGST and DGED) and their U.S. counterparts to vulnerabilities that could directly impact Morocco and indirectly affect the United States through its key North African ally.
The decision to publish primarily in English is intentional. It reflects the French proverb « Nul n'est prophète en son pays »—no one is a prophet in their own country. Moroccan officials, like leaders in many nations, may be more receptive to alerts and analysis originating from trusted external partners, particularly the United States. By engaging American intelligence, policy, and security communities first, we seek to amplify these concerns back toward Morocco, increasing the likelihood they will be heard and acted upon.
This logic draws from hard historical lessons. Consider the reflections after the September 11 attacks, when some U.S. officials stated that the precise method of the assault had been difficult to anticipate. Such statements, however sincere highlight the danger of complacency and the high cost of failing to connect available dots in time. SecurityNAK exists to help ensure that preventable risks—especially those bridging allied nations—are recognized and addressed proactively.
In an era defined by asymmetric threats, hybrid warfare, geopolitical competition, and rapid technological change, this platform serves as a modest but deliberate bridge between two allied countries. We welcome serious contributions, questions, and dialogue from analysts, practitioners, and informed observers who share a commitment to stronger collective security.
